Welcome to Joseph R. Drake, PS 48X—Home of the Tigers and Cubs!

For more than 114 years, PS 48 has proudly served the Hunts Point community. Our school has always been more than a building; it is a place where generations of children and families have learned, grown, and created lasting memories together.

At PS 48, we believe in nurturing not only strong minds, but also strong hearts. Every day, our staff is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to be curious, confident, and kind. Guided by our core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Gratitude, Empathy, and Respect, we work together to ensure that every child is empowered to reach their fullest potential—academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are all about community. We want to bring back the days when families and schools worked hand in hand as true partners, always focused on doing what is best for our students. We know that learning does not happen alone. It happens when teachers, families, staff, and community members come together with one shared goal: helping our children succeed.

We need your voice, your presence, and your partnership. We welcome family and community volunteers to support our school events, programs, classrooms, and initiatives.
